Our Acidic Diet & Lifestyle
Today, many Americans have a diet and lifestyle that has become extremely acidic. The foods we eat on a regular basis are acid-forming, such as pasteurized dairy products, poultry, meat, trans fats, cooked oils, baked goods, and refined sugars. Even most of the beverages we are drinking lead to acid in our bodies. Beverages such as coffee, tea, pasteurized juices and milk, and carbonated drinks are very acidic.
The lifestyle habits we have are also acid-forming. We ingest pharmaceutical drugs, alcohol, and stimulants. Stress and anxiety are also very acid-forming. Pollution, household chemicals and even aging are external factors that lead to an acid buildup in our bodies.
How Does Our Body Deal With Acid?
The human body removes weak acids such as apple cider vinegar and the citric acid in lemons through the lungs in the form of carbon dioxide. And it removes strong acids from the kidneys through the urine as well as from the skin through the sweat. However, our bodies can only process so much acid until it becomes overloaded. What happens if you don’t have enough alkaline mineral buffers to deal with the acid overload? Before we answer that, let’s take a look at how ph works in our bodies…
How pH Works
Technically, pH stands for “potential of hydrogen.” The pH of a fluid tells you how acid or alkaline it is. pH is measured on a scale from 0-14 with neutral being 7.0; anything below that is acidic and anything above is alkaline. More oxygen is present when pH is above 7.0 than below which is why all pathogens thrive in an acidic environment. But they can’t survive with alkalinity. An acidic condition is a breeding ground for unhealthy bacteria, yeast and fungi while an alkaline environment helps to keep things in check. People assume colds and viruses happen when they catch a bug when in fact many common infections are actually caused by bacteria that are part of the normal flora already present in their systems. When their diet and lifestyle become too acidic, they create fertile ground for the pathogens to multiply and flourish. The blood must maintain a ph level of 7.35 to 7.45. If the pH of your blood goes outside that range, the function of your organs and your health is compromised.
Where Does The Acid Go?
When you have too much acid in your body, it first goes to the kidneys for elimination. When the kidneys are at full capacity and they can’t accept all the acid that is being produced, the next step is for the body to use the alkaline buffers in your system. The alkaline minerals in your body act as buffers and mix with the acids that eventually become neutral salts. If you have enough alkaline minerals in reserve, then the acids cancel each other out to become the neutral salts.
If you don’t have enough alkaline minerals in reserve, the body is forced to borrow minerals—including calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium—from vital organs and bones to buffer (neutralize) the acid and safely remove it from the body. Because of this strain, the body can suffer severe and prolonged damage due to high acidity— a condition that may go undetected for years. So, if the kidneys are overloaded and you don’t have enough alkaline minerals in your body to buffer the acid, the body is forced to store the acids in the tissues.
Mild acidosis can cause such problems as:
· Cardiovascular damage, including the constriction of blood vessels and the reduction of oxygen.
· Weight gain, obesity and diabetes.
· Bladder and kidney conditions, including kidney stones.
· Immune deficiency.
· Acceleration of free radical damage, possibly contributing to cancerous mutations.
· Premature aging.
· Osteoporosis; weak, brittle bones, hip fractures and bone spurs.
· Joint pain, aching muscles and lactic acid buildup.
· Low energy and chronic fatigue.
A recent seven-year study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, on 9,000 women showed that those who have chronic acidosis are at greater risk for bone loss than those who have normal pH levels. The scientists who carried out this experiment believe that many of the hip fractures prevalent among middle-aged women are connected to high acidity caused by a diet rich in animal foods and low in vegetables. This is because the body borrows calcium from the bones in order to balance pH.

Alkaline Minerals Buffer Acid
The simple answer to help your body neutralize the acids locked within your tissues is to provide alkaline minerals to help buffer the acid overload. The acid problem facing many people today is really a problem of MINERAL DEFICIENCY.* Minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and vitamin C are mineral buffers that combine with acids to create neutral salts. The neutral salt that’s created can then enter the bloodstream for elimination, without affecting the pH of the blood. The pH balance is restored. Most of us are deficient in the essential minerals which contribute to the acid problem.
Help To Support Optimal Body pH*
Help support your body to restore optimal body pH and help neutralize excess acids by using the superior alkaline mineral buffer called pH Alkalizer.*
pH Alkalizer is a delicious, effervescent beverage containing Alkalizing Minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, and Vitamin C, plus Red Beet Root Powder, Organic Spinach Leaf Powder, Alfalfa Herb Powder, Grape Fruit Extract, Grape Seed Extract, Grape Peel/Skin Extract, Organic Apple Pectin and Potassium Bicarbonate. pH Alkalizer Formula Includes:
Calcium Citrate: It is integral to the transmission of nerve messages, the proper function of muscles including the heart, the activation of certain enzymes for digestion, the nourishment of cells, and the release of energy. Calcium Citrate plays an essential role in the formation bones & teeth and many other vital body functions.
Magnesium Citrate: Considered to be one of the most absorbable forms of magnesium, an essential mineral that plays a key role in more than 300 metabolic reactions in the body including protein, fat and glucose synthesis, assists the body’s energy transport system, inhibits muscle contractions, aids in muscle relaxation & protect against hypertension.
Potassium: An electrolyte critical in maintaining proper acid-alkaline balance. Potassium is highly concentrated inside the cells, while its partner, sodium, is highly concentrated outside the cells. It is their perfect ratio that maintains fluid and electrolyte balance.
Vitamin C From Acerola Berry: Helps to reduce blood sugar levels, boosts immune function and prevents skin discoloration. This berry contains chemicals that help keep the acidity levels in the body normal which is going to aid in digestion. Because the berries also contain a high level of antioxidants, they may be effective at battling free radicals.
Red Beet Root Powder: Provides a wide range of nutrients including Betaine which helps the liver process fat. This prevents the accumulation of fatty tissues in the liver and it also prevents excessive triglycerides and LDL cholesterol in the blood. According to the American Heart Association, beet juice can help lower blood pressure and due to the high content of iron in beets, it is good for anemia and naturally cleans the kidneys and gall bladder.
Spinach Leaf Powder: Spinach contains a plethora of nutritional and medicinal properties which help to strengthen our immune system, boost energy levels, and provide our bodies with necessary vitamins and minerals.
Alfalfa Herb Powder: Effective as a natural diuretic and laxative. It is a good nutritional source for vitamins, chlorophyll and minerals. It detoxifies and alkalizes the body. The herb even bears an anti-fungus agent and boosts the proper functioning of pituitary gland function.
Grape Fruit Extract: Contains antiviral, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties to aid the human body. Thus, grape fruit seed extract can be beneficial in fighting off infections caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi.
Grape Seed Extract: Contains protein, lipids, carbohydrates and polyphenols, which come mainly in the form of flavonoids, also known as bioflavonoids. The term flavonoid is used for a class of plant chemicals known for their activity as highly potent antioxidants, and therefore for their capability in protecting the body against oxidative and free radical damage.
Grape Peel/Skin Extract: Extract contains powerful, natural, bioflavonoid complexes, which are rapidly absorbed and distributed throughout the body.
Apple Pectin Powder: Apple Pectin cleanses the intestinal tract with its soluble and insoluble fibers, helping to maintain an intestinal balance.
Potassium Bicarbonate: Potassium is an essential mineral needed to manage and control water balance, levels of acidity, blood pressure and neuromuscular function. This mineral is also responsible in the transmission of electrical impulses in the heart. Potassium is also necessary for carbohydrate and protein metabolism.
